DatasetControl

The DatasetControl enables the user to manage 1D, 2D and 3D grids and also trajectories. All these items can be loaded and saved as files. To save an item, it must be highlighted and then the user can open the context menu with the right mouse button. To open a trajectory, the system to which it is bound, has to be highlighted. Then the menu entry "File->Open->Trajectory" can be used.

Create isocontur surfaces

For creation of an isocontour surface, a 3D grid must be loaded into the DatasetControl. The dialog for creating the isocontour surface is opened by clicking on the menu entry "Tools->Contour Surface".

On the upper half, the user can select the grid. In the lower half the treshold for the isocontour surface can be set. The color can be freely selected by clicking on the button "Edit" and using the color selection dialog. A possible result can be seen below.

Visualise Trajectories

To visualise a trajectory, it has to be loaded into the DatasetControl. When it is highlighted, the context menu entry "Visualise/Export" opens the following dialog:

The arrow buttons on the top are for navigation between the snapshots. The user can also drag the slider. The checkboxes in the lower right corner enable the user to export images, either directly in the PNG format, or write POV-Ray files for usage with the external renderer. The resulting images can be used to create movies.

Caveat: The visualisation of a trajectory, which is not loaded into memory can become quiet slow, to enhance performance it is adviseable to use the context menu entry "Load into RAM".
